Gentle Yoga and Sound Healing Week in Ubud, Bali

Indonesia · 7 days · From USD 450 (indicative)

The teaching comes from Indian instructors, and the programme leans on practices you would recognise from that tradition rather than on fitness training: Pranayama, Chakra alignment, Yoga Nidra and Hatha. Classes are described as gentle and somatic, adjusted to the body in front of the teacher rather than run to a fixed sequence. The evening sessions combine slow Yin postures with sound healing using Tibetan singing bowls — the page describes the aim as slowing brainwaves into theta states, and whatever you make of that, the practical effect is a very quiet hour before dinner.

Bodywork is a core part of the week, not an add-on. Balinese and Ayurvedic massages use warm botanical herbal oils, and the page says the oils are pressed fresh in Bali. The 5-day package includes one massage, the 7-day includes two, and the 10-day includes three Ayurvedic therapeutic massages.

Food is vegetarian and vegan, three meals a day, described as organic and sattvic — no onion, garlic or heavy spice, cooked fresh on site. Breakfast is fruit and smoothie bowls; lunch and dinner are set wholesome meals rather than a menu. Herbal tea is available all day, and the pool is open to guests throughout.

The setting is Sidakarya, a village area of Ubud, with rice paddies within walking distance and the town's cafes and temples a short ride away. Guests stay in cottages on the property. The 7-day package adds the Melukat purification at Tirta Empul, a Balinese Hindu ceremony involving immersion in the temple's spring-fed pools, done with a guide. The 10-day adds a further temple excursion and scenic walks.

What separates this from a typical Bali yoga week is the combination of Indian-trained teachers, Tibetan bowl therapy and Balinese water blessing in one programme, plus rolling weekly start dates — the page says check-ins run on Sundays and Mondays, so you are not tied to a monthly batch. It is also deliberately not a teacher training: no exams, no teaching practicum, no fixed 6:00 to 20:00 schedule.
