Ana Gracey is a photographer from Buenos Aires who now lives in Cahuita. She runs this week at Dreamscapes, the home and garden she describes as her creative base, a short walk from the beach. The programme is built around photography as a way of paying attention rather than a technical course — you will not spend the week memorising settings.
Mornings start with intention-setting, meditation and movement, then journaling. From there the day moves into mentorship conversations and guided shoots. You photograph details, textures, the garden, the body, and you also step into the frame yourself. Ana teaches you to read cues in the person in front of you — breath, tension, hesitation, softness — and to let those shape the picture instead of forcing a pose.
Afternoons are for creating and experimenting, with editing sessions that look at what an image is doing emotionally, not just whether it is sharp. There are discussions on the ethics of photographing people, on vulnerability, boundaries and consent, and on how to hold a safe space for someone in front of your lens. Evenings are slower: image reviews, reflection and conversation.
The week closes with integration work — pulling together what you have noticed about your own visual direction and leaving with a clearer idea of the work you want to make. Because it is one-to-one, the content bends to you. If you arrive blocked or tired of producing work that feels hollow, that is the material the week works with.
What separates this from a group photography workshop is the attention. Ana is with you for the whole week, and the schedule is set around what you need on the day rather than a fixed timetable for twelve people.
