A typical day here is self-directed. Have breakfast, go down to the spa, swim a few lengths in the indoor pool, then rotate between the jacuzzis, the steam room and the two saunas. The Finnish sauna is the hot, dry one. The herbal sauna is gentler and scented. If you've booked a massage, the therapists work out of dedicated studios inside the spa area.

The sunroom is a nice extra. It's a room built for sitting in warm light, and it's handy on grey off-season days on the Black Sea coast when you still want some sun.

The main difference from a typical wellness retreat is that you don't get a group programme, a schedule or a named instructor. This is a full hotel with a spa attached. It also has a restaurant (Olea), room service, a conference hall, a game room and a children's playground. That makes it more flexible and more family-friendly than most retreats, but less guided.
