Six Senses Vana: Ayurvedic Wellness Retreat in the Himalayan Foothills

India · 7 days

Six Senses Vana is a dedicated wellness retreat rather than a hotel with a spa attached. Guests arrive, consult with the resident Ayurvedic doctors and therapists, and leave with a programme for the stay — treatments, yoga, meditation and food all set around that assessment. The retreat draws on Ayurveda, yoga and Tibetan medicine, and the practitioners are on site rather than visiting.

A typical day has treatments booked at set times, group yoga and meditation sessions, and meals taken at set hours. Between those, the spa, pool and grounds are open. The pace is deliberately unhurried — this is not a place with two training sessions a day and a rest day on Sunday.

The setting is the Doon Valley near Dehradun, in the Himalayan foothills. The property sits among sal forest, and the surrounding area is green and quiet. It is a short drive from Dehradun airport.

What separates it from a general wellness hotel is the medical structure: consultations, prescribed treatments and a food plan that follows from them. If you want a week of yoga with no assessments or appointments, this is more programme than you need. If you want someone to look at how you actually are and build a week around it, that is exactly what it does.

Rooms and facilities run to Six Senses standard, and the retreat is one of the group's dedicated wellness properties rather than a resort with wellness added.
