The camp is built around a 'profile', which here is surfing. On four mornings in Cornwall, teens are taken by shuttle to the beach for lessons with professional surf instructors. Each session starts with a short technique talk on land covering balance, board control, take-off, wave awareness and timing. Then everyone goes into the water to try it. Instructors give individual feedback, so a first-timer and a teen who already stands up on green waves can be in the same session and both get something out of it. If the wind or swell doesn't cooperate, the plan switches to a different water activity instead of being cancelled.
Outside surf time, the regular camp programme takes over. The Falmouth campus has plenty of open space for team sports such as football, volleyball, basketball, rugby and hockey, and there are outdoor games, creative workshops, coastal walks and beach days. Evenings bring group activities, campfires and disco nights. The South West Coast Path walk is the outing most kids remember, with cliff-top views of the Atlantic.
What sets this camp apart from a typical surf camp is the English-language angle and the international crowd. There are no English classes. Instead, the counsellors come from different countries and English is the only shared language, so teens speak it constantly during sport, meals and free time. The staff-to-participant ratio is about 1:7 to 1:10. Every child has a named contact person on the team, and all counsellors hold a current extended certificate of good conduct and work to the organiser's own child-protection and supervision concept.
The second half is a total change of scene. After nine nights on the coast, the group heads to London and stays three nights in a modern hostel on the waterfront in Canary Wharf. The group gets around on foot and by Underground for an interactive sightseeing challenge around Big Ben, Tower Bridge, Buckingham Palace, Covent Garden, Camden Market and Oxford Street, with time for shopping. The last night is a farewell celebration.
The logistics are designed for parents sending kids from abroad. You can choose a supervised group flight from Germany with camp staff, a pick-up at London Heathrow with an optional unaccompanied-minor service, or a meeting point at Paddington Station. Every option except fully independent travel includes the overnight train to Cornwall. Independent arrivals come on Monday morning instead of Sunday, and independent departures are collected from the London hostel. The camp has a strict zero-tolerance rule on alcohol, drugs, smoking and violence, and tour operator insolvency insurance is included in the price.
