The 200-hour training is the longest programme on Anamaya's calendar. Each intake runs three weeks, and the page lists two in 2024: Julie Coluccio from 12 October to 2 November, and Peter Kaaberbøl from 9 to 30 November. Both are described as 200 Hour YTT, three weeks.
A training day covers asana practice, pranayama, meditation and study of yogic texts. The page is clear that the physical postures are only part of it — you also learn to sit with the quieter practices and to teach them to other people. Trainees come out able to guide a class, but the page argues the bigger gain is in your own practice and in how you handle yourself off the mat.
What separates this from a shorter retreat is the length. Three weeks gives you time to build a daily practice rather than sample one, and to get past the point where everything is new. It also means a group that spends real time together — the page leans on the idea of a community of people all working on the same thing.
The rest of the year at Anamaya is filled with week-long retreats led by visiting teachers — breathwork, detox, somatic release, body image and meditation among them — so the centre has a steady turnover of groups. Some weeks carry a note that another retreat group will also be on-site, which is worth checking against your dates if you want a quiet campus.
