Croatian Islands · 9 days · From EUR 1100
Trans Islands Croatia is a nine-day mountain-bike (or e-MTB) tour that starts and finishes in Rabac on the east coast of Istria and hops by ferry across the Kvarner Bay to the islands of Cres, Krk and Rab. Seven riding stages add up to about 380 km and 7,500 m of climbing on rocky trails, coastal paths, forest tracks and technical descents, with shorter options on the island days. It is aimed at intermediate to advanced mountain bikers and runs from April to October.
Each island rides differently. Istria gives you a warm welcome, Mediterranean charm and your first taste of Croatian singletrack. Cres is remote, rocky and wild, a properly off-the-grid day. Krk mixes flowing trails, historic villages and open coastal views, including the stony Moon Plateau above Baška. Rab finishes things with pine forest and cliffs above the sea. Four ferry crossings link the stages: Brestova to Porozina, Merag to Valbiska, Valbiska to Lopar and Mišnjak to Stinica.
You choose how to ride it. Self-guided includes GPX tracks, ferry tickets, B&Bs and hotels with breakfast, and an airport or return transfer. Supported self-guided adds daily luggage transfers, so you ride light. Fully guided puts you with ZenCycle's guide Luc for trail support and local knowledge, with luggage transfers and photo and video footage of your trip. Accommodation comes as a Comfort package in handpicked 3–4 star B&Bs and hotels with local character, or a Luxury package in 4–5 star hotels with spacious rooms, sea views and a pool.
Prices are per person and fall as the group grows: self-guided €1,100 for two riders (€1,000 each for four, €950 for six), supported €1,450 (€1,350 / €1,300), fully guided €1,650 (€1,550 / €1,500). The Luxury package adds €400 per person. Bikes and e-bikes can be rented for €35–55 a day, and wine or olive oil tastings and private city tours can be added.
Luc, who leads the fully guided option, has more than ten years of mountain-biking experience and NIMG guide training. ZenCycle also run guided day rides in Istria and on the Kvarner islands, from Rabac Bike Park to the Moon Plateau on Krk.
