Women-Only Wellness Escape in Bali with Unlimited Massage, Yoga and Private Drivers

Indonesia · 7 days

A typical day depends on what you ask for. You might start with a small yoga class in the house's shala, have a long breakfast from the all-day menu, then spend two hours on the massage table. In the afternoon, you could stay by the pool or head out with a driver. In the evening, there's a shared dinner if you want company and à la carte if you don't. You can also plan a much busier day of sightseeing and surfing, or do very little at all.

The main difference from a similar retreat is that there's no group programme. Founder Zoë Watson started the business after looking for a break for herself and finding only group holidays that told her what to do and when. Here, your itinerary is written for you rather than the group, and you can change it as you go. You can also switch packages or swap activities after booking, including midway through your stay.

The staffing is unusually high for the size of the houses. Each one has three hostesses for 5-7 guests, and they arrange your schedule, give advice and sort out whatever you need. The drivers act as guides too, taking guests to their favourite spots and even taking photos for them on day trips. Guest reviews mention the drivers again and again, especially how patient they are and how well they know the island.

There are several places to stay. The Canggu house sits among rice paddies in Berawa, about a 10-minute walk from the beach and 2 minutes from shops and places to eat. The Seminyak house is on a quiet cul-de-sac, 10-15 minutes on foot from the beach and close to shops and bars. It was voted the #1 wellness villa in the world in 2017. The Ubud house is in tropical rainforest, 10 minutes from central Ubud, and has an outdoor lounge with a fire pit for cooler nights. There's also Villa Peace, a two-bedroom villa in a quiet part of Seminyak for guests who want even fewer people around.

The houses were renovated by Zoë and have tropical gardens, pools, yoga shalas and plenty of places to lie around. Rooms vary in style, but all have air conditioning and an indoor/outdoor bathroom with a stone bath. Guests often return to try a different house.

The business has been running for more than 15 years and has hosted thousands of women. Many are solo travellers or women dealing with burnout who want a proper rest without being put through a programme. Fitness is available if you want it, including yoga, Pilates, surfing and an Ultra Fitness and Detox package, but nobody will push you into it.
