Ananda is a yoga and meditation community near Nevada City in Northern California, and this page lists the ways you can stay there. Each option is a separate property or programme with its own character, so the first decision is which one you want.

The Expanding Light is the flagship retreat centre. It runs yoga and meditation teacher training, personal retreats and group programmes, and serves vegetarian meals. The Ananda Meditation Retreat is smaller and more secluded, set on 80 acres of forested land, and takes both individuals and groups for retreat, seclusion or educational programmes. Gaia House is built for groups — it sleeps 12, two to a room, and is used for group retreats and corporate or non-profit programmes.

Crystal Hermitage Guest House is the most private option: two bedrooms, one bathroom, on a mountain bluff looking over the Yuba River Canyon near the Tahoe National Forest, inside Ananda Village itself.

For longer stays, the Karma Yoga Program at The Expanding Light combines service work with daily classes and discussions, yoga and meditation practice, and time with other guests. The Seva Yoga Program at the Ananda Meditation Retreat is similar: 20-30 hours a week of service in exchange for a low-cost stay, with daily meditations, yoga classes and meals.

Ananda also runs a 10-week meditation course starting 5 November for people who want to build a daily practice at home.
