Umbria · 3 days · From EUR 340 (indicative)
The weekend starts on Friday afternoon with arrival and settling in from 16:00, an opening circle and a first ritual, then a Hatha Yoga Flow class at 19:00, dinner at 20:30 and sound relaxation at 21:30. Saturday is the fullest day: Vinyasa at 8:30, breakfast at 9:30, then a walk and meditation in the nature reserve at 10:30. Lunch is at 13:30, the afternoon is free with the option of booking a massage, and an 18:00 Hatha flow with mantra leads into dinner at 20:30 and herbal teas and quiet time at 21:30. Sunday repeats the morning Vinyasa, breakfast and outdoor walk, with a closing lunch at 13:30 and departure at 15:00.
What separates this from a generic yoga weekend is the setting and the teaching pair. The Podere sits inside a UNESCO biosphere reserve in the Umbrian countryside, so the walking and meditation sessions happen on actual trails rather than in a garden. Federico Insabato founded YogAyur in Rome in 2013 and has a background as a competitive sailor, a degree in International Cooperation, and training in the sacred movements and dances passed down by G.I. Gurdjieff and the Sema of the Sufi tradition. He is a Yoga Alliance certified yoga and meditation teacher, a YogAyurvedic massage therapist and a relational counsellor.
Priscilla D'Angeli began practising ten years ago and trained in India: a 200-hour teacher training in Hatha and Ashtanga Vinyasa at the Vrinda School of Yoga in Varkala, Kerala, then further study in Rishikesh covering Aerial Yoga while continuing with Hatha and Ashtanga. Her classes are fluid and steady, with attention on presence and listening in the movement.
The two practices are framed around two energy centres. The first, Manipura, is worked through dynamic movement and breath — the aim being to build heat and confidence. The second, Anahata, uses asanas that open the chest and shoulders, with mantra singing, and is deliberately gentler. The programme may shift slightly, but the shape of the weekend stays the same.
Accommodation is simple and shared: 10 beds in double rooms with shared bathrooms. This is a working association's property rather than a hotel, and the food follows the same line — vegetarian cooking with genuine, mostly local and organic ingredients. Massages are available at 50 minutes for €50, and transfers from the station can be arranged at €15 per person each way.
