Central Portugal · 6 days · From GBP 925 (indicative)
Mornings start at 7:30am with tea, then an energising Hatha class at 8:00 and breakfast at 9:30. The middle of the day is free: 12:30pm lunch, then the afternoon open for wild swimming, the sauna, hiking the old terraces or napping. In the evening there is a gentler restorative or slow Hatha session at 5:00pm, dinner together at 7:00, and Yoga Nidra at 8:30 or a gathering by the fire. The schedule shifts slightly day to day, and there is at least one excursion off site.
What separates this from a generic yoga week is the venue and the teachers. Vale de Moses has been named by National Geographic as one of the top five retreats in Europe, and the centre's own grounds include forest trails, waterfalls, streams and natural river pools. The day trip to the Rio Zêzere is the big outing of the week, with swimming in clear water and time to explore.
Siôn Jones has taught meditation for more than ten years, studied yoga in North India for over six months, leads kirtan and has appeared on BBC and S4C. He runs the mindfulness workshop and works on nervous system regulation and rest. Rosanna Gordon is a British Wheel of Yoga qualified teacher who has been teaching since 2012, was named Yoga Instructor of the Year for Merseyside and Liverpool, and has facilitated retreats across the UK and Europe. Her classes are pitched so that beginners and experienced students can work side by side.
Accommodation is spread across three areas: belle tents under strawberry trees, the Moses and Adega stone cottages, and bedrooms in the central farmhouse. All come with proper beds and memory foam toppers, cotton bedding, towels, bathrobes, heating or a wood stove, and bathrooms with hot showers nearby.
Food is a real part of the week rather than an afterthought. Three vegetarian or vegan meals are served daily, made with homegrown and local produce, and tea, coffee and fruit are out all day. Guests eat together, and there are fireside evenings. Massages and Ayurvedic treatments can be booked separately.
