Klungkung sits in east Bali, roughly an hour and a half from the airport and well away from the traffic and beach clubs of the south. The school's setting is quiet, which is the point: you are there to study, not to sightsee. Days follow a set timetable of asana practice, lectures and workshops, with three vegetarian meals cooked on site.
The 100-hour course runs 10 days and suits people who want a first taste of teacher training or a top-up of hours without committing a month. The 200-hour is the standard qualification most people need to teach, spread over 23 days. The 300-hour is the advanced course, 28 days, for teachers who already hold a 200-hour certificate and want to go further.
What you get for the money is straightforward: a bed, three meals a day, all your classes and workshops, the course books and a notebook, and shared use of mats, blocks, straps and bolsters. Purified water, herbal tea and coffee are available through the day at no extra cost. Vegan and gluten-free diets can be arranged if you tell them in advance.
Two things to know before booking. You need to bring your own white clothing for the opening and closing ceremonies. And the Yoga Alliance registration fee, which is what actually makes you an RYT-200, is paid by you directly to Yoga Alliance, not to the school.
Rooms come shared or private, and the gap in price between them is the single biggest lever on your total cost. Booking several months ahead gets you the early bird rate, which on the 100-hour shared room is $999 against a regular $1,400. A $380 deposit holds your place.
