14-Day VIP Muay Thai, Yoga & Recovery Retreat in Phitsanulok, Thailand

Thailand · 14 days · From EUR 1810

JP Boxing Gym sits on the edge of Phitsanulok, a historic city on the Nan River about six hours north of Bangkok. The camp is family-run — the owners, the trainers including Kru Jay, the kitchen staff and the yoga teacher all work out of the same small property, and guests eat, train and hang out in the same spaces they do. Reviews consistently mention the same people by name, which tells you something about how the place actually operates.

A typical training day runs to two sessions. Mornings start with skipping, running, mobility work and dynamic stretching, then move into technique — foundational skills for newer people, advanced combinations and partner drills for those with more experience. Pad work and bag work are standard. Some sessions happen outside the gym: a run along the Nan River finishing with Muay Thai at the site of King Naresuan's palace, or a hike up to a hilltop temple with training at the top. Afternoon sessions may include clinching and light, optional sparring, followed by deep stretching. There's also a CrossFit and functional strength area on site, and sessions sometimes wrap with a short core finisher.

Yoga runs daily with Kru Munta Preedasitthichok, who has practiced for over 14 years and taught for 10. She trained in traditional Hatha Yoga in Rishikesh, India, and has additional training in Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization through the Rehabilitation Prague School. Her classes blend Hatha, Vinyasa and Restorative Yin, and lean toward functional movement, core stability and injury prevention rather than pure flexibility work. Guests with desk-job posture problems or old injuries tend to get a lot out of this.

Recovery is built into the day rather than sold as an add-on. Sauna and ice bath access is unlimited and free, Thai massage is included twice a week, and protein smoothies come with breakfast. The food is Thai — pad thai, green curry, stir-fries, sweet and sour dishes, sticky rice, fruit plates, fried eggs and salads — cooked in the camp's cafe, with vegetarian, vegan, raw and pescatarian options all catered for.

What separates this from a standard Muay Thai camp is the balance. You are training hard but you are also doing yoga, getting massaged, sitting in a sauna, visiting temples and eating proper meals. The camp also teaches the Wai Kru / Ram Muay, the ceremonial dance performed before bouts, and Muay Thai Boran and traditional Thai sword work — things most commercial camps skip entirely. Because it's in Phitsanulok rather than Chiang Mai or Phuket, you're not surrounded by other tourists, and prices for food and everything else locally reflect that.
